Maya Dance Theatre is proud to present INVOKING RASAS a duet with the dancer and emotions for the upcoming Bangkok Fringe Festival 2010 on 14 January 2010 at Hua Hin, Thailand.
Invoking Rasas a duet with the dancer and emotions interprets emotions through dance and music. The performance aimed at emoting specific RASAS (emotions) that we experience as humans such as love, fear, fury, devotion are invoked through various subject matters and are then conveyed through dance forms specifically from the Asian forms – Bharatha Natyam, Baris (Balinese Dance), and Asian contemporary forms that permit the amalgamation of forms from the west and east. RASAS (or emotions) is an integral element of dance and the production Invoking Rasas a duet with the dancer and emotions will provide audiences an understanding of how Rasas and or emotions are reflected in the art of dance.
Invoking Rasas a duet with the dancer and emotions will present a myriad of dance forms and styles ranging from traditional Bharatha Natyam to Asian contemporary forms so as to cater to the audience varied preferences. Presenting a wide range of dance styles will also introduce the audience to dance forms that may be new to them.
