Grey is an intermediate colour; a colour between black and white; a mysterious shade and a colour in transition!
Just like the colour grey, Maya Dance Theatre's production GREY explores the convergence of two different dance forms: traditional Asian dance (Bharatha Natyam, a 2000 year old dance form from India) and modern contemporary dance. Intrigued by the structure of the two forms, the choreographers have explored, disassembled and reassembled the dance language to create a 'melting point' of convergence and crossroads where dancers are in dialogue.
GREY features the works of three choreographers – Kavitha Krishnan, Shahrin Johry & Cynthia Ling Lee (USA), with artistic direction by Kavitha Krishnan.
